Kindergarten Teachers RZ


  In order to register your child you must be the custodial guardian or parent.  You will need the following items:

  • Photo ID
  • Birth Certificate - Mother's copy will NOT do. It must be stamped & from the state.
  • Proof of Immunization & Physical Examination - This must be on the Tennessee State School Immunization form. Please note that the state of Tennessee requires additional vaccines for children entering Kindergarten. Please see your doctor for more information.
  • 2 Proofs of Residency - (cable bill, water bill, rental agreement) - It must be something that comes to your house on a regular basis.


**Please note that the state has changed the date requirement for children entering Kindergarten this year. Children must turn 5 on or before August 15th to attend.**



Skills Kindergarteners are expected to know when starting school in August:

  • Reciting first, middle, & last name
  • Reciting their phone number & address
  • Recites all letters & sounds (not singing)
  • Identifying numbers 0-10
  • Counting to 25
  • Identify all colors
  • Identify all shapes
  • Writing first name correctly with only 1 capital letter
  • Reciting nursery rhymes
  • Read often (to your child, they pretend read)
  • Tying their shoes
  • Using scissors & glue
  • Taking care of basic needs on their own (restroom needs, buttoning pants, blowing nose, etc.)
  • Informing an adult when they need help or when something is wrong
  • Following two step directions
  • Taking turns & sharing
  • Asking permission before leaving an adult
